Alpha divides critics with its ambitious but incoherent blend of body horror and coming-of-age drama. While Ducournau delivers genuinely shocking moments and powerful supernatural imagery, the film lacks the focused energy of her previous work, resulting in a bewildering disappointment that nonetheless contains transcendent sequences.
