Shrek Forever After
A midlife-crisis burdened Shrek, longing for the days when he felt like a real ogre, makes a pact with magic deal-maker Rumpelstiltskin. But when he's duped and sent to a twisted version of Far Far Away—where Rumpelstiltskin is king, ogres are hunted, and he and Fiona have never met—he sets out to restore his world and reclaim his true love.

True love's kiss
The middle stretch
From the sagging middle act around the 45-minute mark to the emotional climax, where genuine stakes and heart elevated the film significantly
Reviewers found Shrek Forever After to be a significant improvement over the third film but lacking the magic of the first two. The film starts slowly with Shrek's domestic crisis, gains momentum with the alternate reality concept, and peaks emotionally during the climactic romance before ending on a somewhat underwhelming note.
