Queen of the Damned starts promisingly with its rock vampire concept and strong soundtrack, but steadily declines as it betrays the source material's complexity. The film reaches its lowest point during the Ancient Vampires confrontation, where rich philosophical debates are reduced to meaningless cameos. Despite some atmospheric moments and Stuart Townsend's rock star charisma, the overall arc reflects a missed opportunity that frustrated both book fans and general audiences.
