Review Sentiment
Wake and Winslow alternate between drunken bonding and violent conflict
Howard and Wake engage in brutal final fight over lantern access
The film peaks during the drunken bonding sequences showcasing the actors' performances, then drops as the violence becomes chaotic and less narratively focused.
The Lighthouse maintains strong critical reception through its atmospheric buildup and powerhouse performances, particularly from Dafoe. The film peaks during the psychological deterioration sequences where the actors' chemistry shines, but some critics felt the final act prioritized style over substance. Despite divisive elements, most reviewers praised its technical craftsmanship and unique vision.
