Ralph Breaks the Internet
Video game bad guy Ralph and fellow misfit Vanellope von Schweetz must risk it all by traveling to the World Wide Web in search of a replacement part to save Vanellope's video game, Sugar Rush. In way over their heads, Ralph and Vanellope rely on the citizens of the internet — the netizens — to help navigate their way, including an entrepreneur named Yesss, who is the head algorithm and the heart and soul of trend-making site BuzzzTube.
Critics Sentiment
Ralph becomes viral sensation on BuzzzTube with Yesss help
Ralph unleashes Arthur virus into Slaughter Race causing server crash
The film drops significantly when Ralph makes his selfish virus decision, falling from the viral video highs to its lowest point.
The film starts strong with creative internet world-building and authentic digital culture humor that reviewers praised. However, it stumbles in the third act when Ralph's character regresses into toxic behavior, before recovering with a genuinely moving resolution about friendship growth. Critics were divided on the Disney product placement but generally appreciated the film's handling of modern themes.
