Zodiac
Over the course of a decade, editors of the San Francisco Chronicle entice themselves in the murders of the Zodiac Killer. However, as time runs its course, interest in the case dwindles in the eyes of the professionals. The Killer stops interacting with the public. However, believing he has the answers, an amateur cartoonist from the initial sightings races against time to prevent what he believes is another murder.

The film drops significantly during the middle investigation lull but recovers strongly as Graysmith's personal obsession takes center stage.
Zodiac opens with universally praised murder sequences that establish its dark tone and meticulous attention to detail. The film experiences a notable dip during its lengthy middle section focused on procedural investigation, with some reviewers finding it overlong. However, it recovers in the final act as Gyllenhaal's obsessive pursuit becomes the driving force, leading to a tense but deliberately unsatisfying conclusion that critics appreciated for its realistic approach.
