The film peaks with the acclaimed underwater chase sequence then crashes with the widely reviled Newborn hybrid finale.
Alien Resurrection starts promisingly with an interesting cloning concept and builds to a spectacular underwater sequence that critics universally praised. However, the film deteriorates significantly in its final act with the introduction of the poorly received Newborn hybrid, leading to a scientifically absurd and tonally inconsistent conclusion that left many reviewers feeling the franchise had lost its way.
