DodgeBall: A True Underdog Story
When megalomaniacal White Goodman, the owner of a trendy, high-end fitness center, makes a move to take over the struggling local gym run by happy-go-lucky Pete La Fleur, there's only one way for La Fleur to fight back: dodgeball. Aided by a dodgeball guru and Goodman's attorney, La Fleur and his rag-tag team of underdogs launch a knock-down, drag-out battle in which the winner takes all.

Peter wins sudden death match and reveals his betting scheme
Patches O'Houlihan killed by falling casino sign before finals
The film recovers from its lowest point during Patches' death to its highest during the final victory sequence.
DodgeBall maintains solid audience appeal throughout with Ben Stiller's performance as the standout element. The film peaks during its absurd training sequences and climactic tournament, though it suffers from some pacing issues and unnecessary tangents in the middle act. Overall, reviewers found it a consistently entertaining if formulaic comedy that succeeds through its silly charm and strong ensemble cast.
