Ned punches Laird leading to fight and moose tank destruction
Laird arrives by helicopter on Christmas Day for reconciliation
The film peaks during the physical comedy of the Christmas Eve brawl but drops significantly during the formulaic reconciliation sequence.
Critics found Why Him? to be a mixed but generally watchable comedy that succeeds on the strength of Franco and Cranston's performances. The film's physical comedy and sight gags landed well with reviewers, particularly the house tour and Christmas Eve fight sequence, but many noted the plot becoming increasingly contrived and the final act losing comic momentum.
