Paulina explains her mother used Doris as a vessel and sewed her mouth shut
Friends find the phrase Hi friend written in different places
The film recovers from its lowest point during the generic 'Hi friend' messages to become genuinely engaging when the Doris Zander mystery unfolds.
Ouija starts with modest promise but quickly devolves into formulaic jump scares and predictable horror clichés that reviewers found boring and uninspired. The film recovers somewhat in its second half when the Doris Zander backstory adds genuine creepiness and intensity. Despite some effective moments involving mouth sewing and plot twists, the overall execution remains too safe and generic to elevate it beyond mediocre PG-13 horror.
