Review Sentiment
Marlowe drugged and held at Dr Sonderberg's sanatorium
Jules Amthor the psychic healer appears at the Grayle house
The film jumps dramatically from its lowest point during Amthor's introduction to its highest peak with the acclaimed drug sequence at the sanatorium.
Murder, My Sweet maintains consistently high praise throughout, with critics celebrating Dick Powell's career-defining transformation and Claire Trevor's definitive femme fatale. The film peaks with its universally acclaimed surreal drug sequence, while some reviewers struggle with the complex plotting in the middle sections. The noir craftsmanship and atmospheric cinematography receive widespread critical appreciation from start to finish.
