Guns of Diablo
14-year-old Kurt Russell plays Jamie, an orphaned boy heading westward with a wagon train. Charles Bronson is a wagon scout Linc Murdock, who runs into difficulties when he meets old flame Maria, who is now married to corrupt lawman Rance Macklin. The jealous Macklin has Murdock arrested, but Maria frees him, permitting Murdock and Jamie to embark on a new adventure involving a "lost" gold mine. Linc and Maria's intimate scene by the creek
Film loses focus with scattered character interactions
The film peaks with the surprisingly daring love scene then immediately loses momentum as the plot meanders without clear direction.
Guns of Diablo delivers an uneven experience that showcases strong individual moments within a compromised television framework. While reviewers praised specific sequences like the opening river rescue, flashback drama, and final shootout, they consistently noted the film's TV origins hurt its pacing and overall cohesion. The pairing of Bronson and young Kurt Russell generated interest, but weak direction and editing prevented the film from rising above average western fare.
