Colossal meteorite crashes destroying the lemur island home
Carnotaurus pair hunt the herd while Kron abandons stragglers
The film drops significantly from the spectacular meteor impact sequence to the more routine predator chase elements in the middle act.
Dinosaur starts with universally praised spectacular visuals in its opening sequences, particularly the meteor impact, but gradually settles into more predictable territory as talking animals and familiar story beats take over. While the animation remained impressive throughout and several emotional moments resonated with audiences, critics consistently noted that the film's technical achievements overshadowed a derivative plot that felt routine compared to its groundbreaking visual presentation.
