Antagonistic sportscaster Ranch Wilder reveals Roger's angel ability to press
The film drops from the uplifting press conference defense to Ranch Wilder's villainous exposure, then rebounds strongly for Al's explanation and the climactic baseball sequence.

The film peaks during its emotional climax as Mel Clark struggles through the ninth inning, delivering genuine tension and payoff. While critics found it formulaic and silly, most appreciated its sincere spirit and family-friendly message about faith and belonging.
