Biggest Swing

The film drops significantly from the effective rescue sequence to the formulaic second Meg emergence and Morris subplot.

The Meg starts with decent underwater suspense and benefits from Statham's charismatic performance, but suffers from terrible dialogue, predictable plotting, and a PG-13 rating that neuters its potential. While the visual effects and cinematography earn praise, most critics found it a missed opportunity that could have been a proper schlocker but instead became generic family-friendly fare.
