Innerspace
Test pilot Tuck Pendleton volunteers to test a special vessel for a miniaturization experiment. Accidentally injected into a neurotic hypochondriac, Jack Putter, Tuck must convince Jack to find his ex-girlfriend, Lydia Maxwell, to help him extract Tuck and his ship and re-enlarge them before his oxygen runs out.
Critics Sentiment
Jack first hears Tuck and thinks he's possessed
Jack's nervousness exposes the scam during Scrimshaw meeting
The film peaks with Jack's possessed hysteria then gradually declines as the plot becomes more convoluted with villains, before recovering for the internal battle climax.
Innerspace maintains solid entertainment value throughout most of its runtime, with Martin Short's physical comedy and the central buddy relationship driving strong audience appreciation. The film peaks early with its high-concept premise and Short's hysterical reactions, dips slightly during more convoluted villain sequences, but recovers well for its action-packed internal battle climax.
