Kelso participates in Minerva's graveyard voodoo ceremony
Lady Chablis makes her controversial courtroom appearance
The film drops significantly from the atmospheric voodoo ceremony to Lady Chablis's widely criticized courtroom stunt.
Critics appreciated the film's atmospheric portrayal of Savannah's eccentric characters and Spacey's compelling performance, but felt the movie lost focus with unnecessary subplots and excessive runtime. While the murder mystery and character studies showed promise, reviewers consistently noted pacing issues and questioned creative decisions like the romantic subplot and overuse of Lady Chablis.
