Minions starts strong with origin story setup and Villain-Con sequences that reviewers found genuinely funny, but sags in the middle with predictable plot developments and generic slapstick. The film recovers significantly with the giant Kevin battle and especially the young Gru ending, which multiple critics called the highlight that elevated the entire experience and justified the prequel concept.
