Since the 1960s, a disproportionate number of the population in and around Nome, Alaska, have gone missing. Despite FBI investigations, the disappearances remain a mystery. Dr. Abigail Tyler, a psychologist, may be on the verge of blowing the unsolved cases wide open when, during the course of treating her patients, she finds evidence of alien abductions.

Biggest Swing

The film jumps from its lowest point during the manipulative opening to genuine terror during Scott's levitation scene

The Fourth Kind starts poorly with viewers finding its documentary pretense annoying, but builds to genuinely terrifying moments in the middle act, particularly the levitation and abduction scenes. However, the film loses credibility and momentum in its final act, ending with mixed reactions about its psychological revelations.
