Skyline
When strange lights descend on the city of Los Angeles, people are drawn outside like moths to a flame where an extraterrestrial force threatens to swallow the entire human population off the face of the Earth. Now the band of survivors must fight for their lives as the world unravels around them.
Critics Sentiment
Blue lights descend from sky hypnotizing people and alien ships arrive
Jarrod's brain inserted into alien body and he protects Elaine
The film drops from its visual effects peak during the Air Force attack (6.1) to its lowest point with the confusing brain-transplant ending (2.8), a swing of over 3 points.
Skyline starts with mixed reception due to weak characters and cliched setup, peaks during impressive alien invasion and military attack sequences that showcase strong visual effects, then steadily declines as the repetitive confined setting and bizarre ending frustrated most critics. While the $10 million budget achieved remarkable visual spectacle that some reviewers appreciated, the poor script and character development ultimately disappointed audiences expecting more substance behind the impressive alien designs.
