Major earthquake devastates Los Angeles with massive destruction

The film jumps from boring character setup to spectacular disaster when the earthquake finally hits at the one-hour mark
Earthquake follows a classic disaster film arc, starting with tedious character introductions that reviewers found dull, building through more engaging supporting characters, then exploding into spectacular destruction that impressed audiences. The film peaks with the earthquake sequence itself before settling into competent but uneven rescue scenarios and ending on a surprisingly dark note that divided viewers.
