The Shadow
Based on the 1930s comic strip, The Shadow is put up against his archenemy Shiwan Khan, who plans to take over the world by holding a city to ransom using an atom bomb. Using his powers of invisibility and "the power to cloud men's minds", The Shadow comes blazing to the rescue with explosive results.
Critics Sentiment
Cranston operates as The Shadow vigilante with invisibility powers
Khan hypnotizes Margo to kill The Shadow
The film peaks when The Shadow is fully established as a character, then drops significantly during the conventional mind control subplot.
Critics praised The Shadow's stunning visual design and 1930s atmosphere, with Alec Baldwin delivering a strong performance as the dark vigilante. However, the film suffered from a predictable plot that relied too heavily on standard superhero conventions. While the production values and cast were consistently appreciated, many felt the story didn't live up to the impressive visual presentation.
