The film starts strong with its fairy tale premise and maintains decent momentum through creative witch designs and gore-heavy action sequences. While the middle section sags under plot contrivances and backstory exposition, it recovers powerfully in the final act with spectacular action set pieces that embrace the film's campy, over-the-top nature. Critics consistently praised the film as entertaining B-movie fun despite its narrative flaws.
