Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins
After saving the life of their heir apparent, tenacious loner Snake Eyes is welcomed into an ancient Japanese clan called the Arashikage where he is taught the ways of the ninja warrior. But, when secrets from his past are revealed, Snake Eyes' honor and allegiance will be tested – even if that means losing the trust of those closest to him.
Critics Sentiment
Tommy brings Snake Eyes to the Arashikage dojo in Tokyo
Snake Eyes steals the Jewel of the Sun from temple
The film's biggest drop occurs when Snake Eyes betrays the clan by stealing the sacred jewel, with critics finding this betrayal fundamentally damaging to the character's likability.
Snake Eyes starts promisingly with solid production values and ninja clan intrigue but loses momentum as the plot becomes increasingly convoluted and the protagonist's betrayal alienates viewers. The film recovers somewhat in its action-heavy finale, with Andrew Koji's Storm Shadow emerging as the clear highlight, though most critics felt the movie suffered from identity confusion between grounded crime drama and cartoonish superhero spectacle.
