Pet Sematary

Pet Sematary maintains serviceable horror throughout most of its runtime, with critics particularly praising Jeté Laurence's performance as the undead Ellie and the film's darker atmospheric elements. However, the film suffers from rushed pacing that doesn't allow themes to breathe, and the controversial new ending drew significant criticism for departing poorly from the source material. While an improvement over the 1989 version in production values and some performances, it ultimately feels like a missed opportunity that fails to fully capitalize on King's complex themes of grief and death.
