Dark of the Moon recovers significantly from Revenge of the Fallen with impressive visual spectacle and a genuinely surprising plot twist involving Sentinel Prime's betrayal. However, the film suffers from an overly extended Chicago battle sequence that becomes tedious despite its technical excellence. While the first two acts build effectively with historical conspiracy elements and character development, the final hour drags considerably, preventing the film from reaching its full potential.
