Hot Rod
For Rod Kimble, performing stunts is a way of life, even though he is rather accident-prone. Poor Rod cannot even get any respect from his stepfather, Frank, who beats him up in weekly sparring matches. When Frank falls ill, Rod devises his most outrageous stunt yet to raise money for Frank's operation -- and then Rod will kick Frank's butt.

Rod successfully jumps fifteen buses but crashes through stage
Audience laughs at Rod's stunt film and Rod destroys projector
The film rebounds from its lowest point during the humiliating movie screening disaster to hit its stride with the viral video success and preparation for the climactic stunt.
Hot Rod follows a classic underdog comedy arc, starting slowly but building momentum through physical comedy highlights like the punch dancing sequence. The film dips during its middle act humiliation scenes but recovers strongly for an impressive and crowd-pleasing stunt finale. Reviews consistently praised Samberg's commitment to the physical comedy while noting the film's heart beneath the silliness.
