A rush-hour fender-bender on New York City's crowded FDR Drive, under most circumstances, wouldn't set off a chain reaction that could decimate two people's lives. But on this day, at this time, a minor collision will turn two complete strangers into vicious adversaries. Their means of destroying each other might be different, but their goals, ultimately, will be the same: Each will systematically try to dismantle the other's life in a reckless effort to reclaim something he has lost.

Biggest Swing

The film's most dramatic drop occurs in the final act, where critics praised the character development and reconciliation scenes but were deeply disappointed by the overly optimistic Hollywood ending.

Critics consistently praised the strong performances by Affleck and Jackson, along with the realistic setup and compelling character study of two flawed men spiraling into destructive revenge. However, the film's reception was significantly damaged by what many reviewers called a weak, pusillanimous ending that undermined the darker, more complex themes the movie had been building. The overall sentiment reflects a well-executed thriller let down by its resolution.
