Watchmen: Chapter II
Suspicious of the events ensnaring their former colleagues, Nite Owl and Silk Spectre are spurred out of retirement to investigate. The biggest swing occurs from the boring Mars sequences to Rorschach's climactic moral stand, jumping from 6.5 to 9.2 as the film moves from its weakest visual moments to its strongest character triumph.
Chapter II redeems the slower pace of its predecessor with increasingly compelling character work and moral complexity. While the Mars sequences disappoint visually, Rorschach's unwavering integrity and the conspiracy's revelation drive the film to its powerful, uncompromising conclusion.
