Frankie and Johnny
When Johnny is released from prison following a forgery charge, he quickly lands a job as a short-order cook at a New York diner. Following a brief fling with waitress Cora, he develops an attraction for Cora's friend and fellow waitress Frankie. While Frankie resists Johnny's charms initially, she eventually relents when her best friend, Tim, persuades her to give Johnny a chance.

The film rises significantly from Helen's death to Johnny and Frankie's first intimate night together, gaining 2.3 points as their romance finally blossoms.
Critics found Frankie and Johnny to be a surprisingly realistic romantic drama that earned its emotional moments through strong performances from Pacino and Pfeiffer. While some found the premise predictable and Pacino's casting unconventional, most praised the film's authentic portrayal of damaged people learning to love again. The consensus appreciated Marshall's direction for avoiding typical romantic comedy cliches in favor of genuine character development.
