Biggest Swing

The film drops significantly when the show gets cancelled as it abandons its successful parody elements

Showtime starts promisingly with good chemistry between De Niro and Murphy and effective parody of buddy cop conventions, peaking with Shatner's coaching scenes and the garbage truck chase. However, the third act disappoints as the film becomes the very thing it was satirizing, resulting in a conventional and predictable ending that undermines its earlier cleverness.
