Miracle on 34th Street
Six-year-old Susan Walker has doubts about childhood's most enduring miracle—Santa Claus. Her mother told her the secret about Santa a long time ago, but, after meeting a special department store Santa who's convinced he's the real thing, Susan is given the most precious gift of all—something to believe in.
Critics Sentiment
Susan shows the judge the dollar bill with faith message
Falacchi antagonizes Kris leading to his arrest
The film drops significantly during the contrived street altercation setup but recovers strongly for the courtroom climax
Critics found this remake a decent but unnecessary retelling that relies heavily on Richard Attenborough's charming performance as Kris Kringle. While the courtroom scenes and central faith message resonated with reviewers, many felt it lacked the warmth and magic of the original, suffering from flat supporting performances and a focus on materialism over genuine Christmas spirit.
