Paul throws space heater into hot tub killing all partygoers
Paul and Mary Bland introduced as prudish wine snob and nurse
The film jumps from the slow opening setup to the breakthrough first murder with the frying pan, gaining significant momentum as the premise clicks.
Reviews show consistent appreciation for the film's deadpan dark comedy approach, with particular praise for the lead performances and the memorable hot tub scene. While some critics noted pacing issues and found the premise more tame by modern standards, most appreciated the restrained handling of violence and the chemistry between Bartel and Woronov. The film maintains solid approval throughout with the climactic party massacre serving as the comedic peak.
