Great white shark attacks Nancy and bites her leg while surfing
Shark impaled on rebar and Nancy rescued by Carlos and Miguel
The film drops significantly from the tense jellyfish swim sequence to the criticized underwater chase, losing 1.3 points as CGI effects and logic problems emerge.
The Shallows starts strong with beautiful cinematography and an effective shark attack that showcases Blake Lively's compelling performance. The film maintains solid tension through the middle act survival sequences, but reviewers consistently noted that the final act suffers from poor CGI, logic issues, and an unrealistic climax that undermines the otherwise entertaining thriller.
