Vampires opens strong with an acclaimed vampire nest raid and brutal massacre sequence that showcases excellent practical effects. The middle sections suffer from pacing issues and exposition dumps, but the film recovers somewhat for a satisfying final confrontation, though plot holes and underdeveloped twists prevent it from reaching its early potential.
