Biggest Swing

The film drops significantly from the satirical high of the China canal fabrication to the tragic reality of Mickie's suicide, falling 2.0 points.

Critics found The Tailor of Panama an intelligent satire with excellent performances from Rush and Brosnan playing against type, praising the dark comedy of escalating lies and political manipulation. However, many felt the film suffered from tonal inconsistency and pacing issues, never fully committing to being either a serious thriller or pure satire. The middle section's brilliant satirical moments were the highlight, while the ending felt rushed and unsatisfying to most reviewers.
