The vast, unforgiving Tibetan plateau of Kekexili is revealed
Liu Dong is swallowed by quicksand while driving supply vehicle
The film's most dramatic drop occurs when Liu Dong dies in quicksand, falling from the moral complexity sections to devastating tragedy.
Mountain Patrol builds steadily through stunning landscape cinematography and moral complexity before hitting an emotional low with Liu Dong's death. The film recovers for a tense but restrained finale, ending on a note of real-world conservation success despite the personal tragedies.
