Street magician Steve Gray performs disturbing card tricks on Brain Rapist
Anton angrily ends partnership with Burt after Hot Box injury
The film's biggest swing comes from Jim Carrey's electrifying entrance as Steve Gray, jumping the score significantly before plunging into the extended low period of Burt's downfall.
The Incredible Burt Wonderstone follows a predictable but serviceable arc from childhood friendship through Vegas success, catastrophic failure, and redemptive comeback. Jim Carrey's scene-stealing performance as the psychopathic street magician provides the film's highest moments, while the middle section drags as Burt hits rock bottom. The inventive final magic trick and strong supporting cast help elevate what reviewers found to be a pleasant if unremarkable comedy.
