The film improves significantly around 45 minutes when the actual kidnapping plot kicks in and the Anderson-Mohr dynamic begins working

King's Ransom starts extremely poorly with unsubtle character introductions and confusing setup that lost many viewers. The middle section shows improvement when the kidnapping plot finally begins and the Anderson-Mohr chemistry provides some genuine laughs. However, the film deteriorates again toward the end with an overly complicated plot and unsatisfying resolution.
