Backtrace opens with its strongest moments in the bank heist sequence before quickly declining into repetitive and poorly executed middle sections dominated by boring flashback sequences. Despite brief upticks during action scenes, the film struggles with generic plotting, minimal Stallone screen time, and weak execution throughout most of its runtime.
