Mick Haller is a charismatic defense attorney who does business out of his Lincoln Continental sedan. Mick spends most of his time defending petty crooks and other bottom-feeders, so it comes as quite a surprise when he lands the case of a lifetime: defending a Beverly Hills playboy who is accused of attempted murder. However, what Mick initially thinks is an open-and-shut case with a big monetary reward develops into something more sinister.

Biggest Swing

The film's biggest swing occurs from Frank Levin's murder (6.8) to the Mary Windsor confession twist (8.4), a 1.6 point increase as the predictable murder plot point gave way to a genuinely surprising final revelation.

Critics praised The Lincoln Lawyer as a smart, entertaining legal thriller elevated by Matthew McConaughey's charismatic performance and clever plot twists. The film builds steady momentum through its investigation and courtroom scenes, with particular acclaim for the moral complexity of Haller's ethical dilemma and the satisfying resolution of justice. While some found certain plot developments predictable, the overall consensus was positive for this well-crafted genre entry.
