Hellseeker frustrates viewers for most of its runtime with repetitive hallucinations and dream sequences that feel derivative of better films like Jacob's Ladder. The final act's revelation that Trevor has been in Hell all along redeems the experience somewhat, with critics appreciating the psychological twist and Ashley Laurence's return as Kirsty. While the ending provides satisfying closure, the journey to get there is widely considered tedious and poorly executed.
