The film dramatically improves when vampires are revealed after an hour of tedious western setup, jumping from 4.4 to 6.8 as horror elements finally emerge.
The film suffers from a painfully slow first hour that bored many viewers with predictable western elements, causing several to nearly abandon it. Once the vampire horror begins around the 60-minute mark, the film becomes significantly more entertaining with good effects and action. However, the late payoff couldn't fully compensate for the tedious opening, leaving most critics feeling the film was merely adequate despite improvements over the second sequel.
