Pursuit
Detective Breslin crosses paths with Calloway, a ruthless hacker desperate to find his wife, who has been kidnapped by a drug cartel. When Calloway escapes police custody, Breslin joins forces with a no-nonsense female cop to reclaim his prisoner. But is Calloway’s crime-boss father somehow involved in this explosive situation?
Critics Sentiment
Complex web of criminal relationships and motivations fully revealed
Violent deaths occur as criminal conflicts escalate significantly
The film jumps from its lowest point at the midpoint violence (3.2) to much higher engagement when the father connection is revealed (5.8), a swing of 2.6 points as the complex plot finally starts making sense.
Pursuit starts poorly with generic setup and continues struggling through a confusing first half that lost at least one viewer entirely. The film finds its footing somewhat in the second half when the complex criminal relationships become clearer, particularly around the crime-boss father revelation, but ultimately fails to sustain momentum through a poorly executed finale.
