Tamasha
Meeting while on vacation, Ved and Tara sense a connection but vow to keep their real identities a secret. Years later, their paths cross again.
Critics Sentiment
Ved narrates his family's story through theatrics and metaphors to Brijmohan and the family
Ved upsets his boss with nonsensical presentations and gets evicted from his workplace
The film swings from its lowest point around the 90-100 minute mark, where Ved's workplace unraveling drew accusations of dragging and baseless framing, to its peak at the 120-130 minute family storytelling scene, which was almost universally called the most transcendent moment in the film.
Tamasha opens with strong goodwill fueled by the Corsica sequences and the playful chemistry between Ranbir and Deepika, reaching its early peak in the Don and Mona Darling roleplay. The second half divides audiences sharply, with the deliberately monotonous Delhi stretch and Ved's workplace breakdown drawing real criticism for pacing and narrative coherence. The film recovers powerfully in its final act, with the Shimla storyteller reunion and the family narration scene earning near-universal acclaim and lifting the overall sentiment back toward a warm, if qualified, endorsement.
