Michael

Audience sentiment for Michael tracks a broadly positive arc with a strong opening built on the young Jackson 5 sequences and Colman Domingo's commanding Joseph, a mid-film plateau where critics find the dramatic depth lacking but fans remain engaged by the music and Jaafar's performance, and a rousing final act anchored by the Motown 25 moonwalk, the Dodger Stadium farewell, and the Wembley Stadium climax. The film's core tension in reception is the wide split between devoted fans who experience it as an emotional concert event and critics who find it a glossy, hagiographic biopic that avoids its subject's complexity. The result is a sentiment curve that never dips catastrophically but never fully escapes the ceiling imposed by its own sanitized ambitions.
