Biggest Swing

The film plummets from its strongest disaster movie satire in the middle act to its most confusing and pretentious revenge subplot, before recovering with the beloved dance finale.

White Noise starts promisingly with academic satire and peaks during its impressive toxic event sequence, but loses critical favor in a muddled final act before ending on a universally praised high note. Critics consistently noted the film felt like three separate movies awkwardly combined, with the middle disaster section working best and the revenge subplot working least. The wild supermarket dance finale redeemed much of the preceding confusion for most reviewers.
