The film drops significantly from the praised Jerusalem wall sequence to the underwhelming Cardiff laboratory finale, losing the epic scale that made earlier moments work.
World War Z starts strong with an energetic opening and builds to an impressive Jerusalem set piece that critics widely praised. However, the film loses momentum in its final act, with reviewers noting the shift to a small-scale Welsh laboratory setting as anticlimactic after the global scope. Despite production troubles and extensive reshoots, most critics found it a competent if conventional action thriller that succeeds more as spectacle than character drama.
