Beneath the Planet of the Apes

Critics found the sequel disappointingly repetitive in its first half, essentially rehashing the original's plot beats with a new astronaut. The underground mutant society divided audiences with its low-budget execution, but the film redeemed itself with a genuinely shocking and bold ending that destroyed the entire planet. While lacking the intelligence and originality of its predecessor, the sequel maintained enough quality to be considered watchable, if inferior.
