The Jewel of the Nile
Joan Wilder is thrust back into a world of murder, chases, foreign intrigue... and love. This time out she's duped by a duplicitous Arab dignitary who brings her to the Middle East, ostensibly to write a book about his life. Of course, he's up to no good, and Joan is just another pawn in his wicked game. But Jack Colton and his sidekick Ralph show up to help our intrepid heroine save the day.
Critics Sentiment
Jack, Joan and Al-Julhara escape in hijacked F-16 fighter
Jack and Joan's relationship has grown stale in France
The film jumps from its lowest point during the stale romance setup to its highest during the spectacular F-16 action sequence.
Critics found The Jewel of the Nile to be a competent but inferior sequel that lost much of the original's charm and chemistry. While the action sequences, particularly the F-16 chase, earned consistent praise for their spectacle and production values, reviewers noted the relationship between Douglas and Turner felt diminished and the overall narrative less inventive. The film was seen as entertaining enough but ultimately a derivative retread that relied too heavily on formula.
